PRESS RELEASE (Sep 11, 2022)

Colorado Campaign Finance Reports for the August Reporting period were released last week. And the information regarding the Colorado State House District 43 (Highlands Ranch) race is stunning.

Bob Marshall's Campaign (Bob4Colorado) raised $6159 from 108 individual contributions, averaging $57/donation. Bob 4 Colorado also received $3200 from special interest groups, $2000 of that sum being a contribution from the Douglas County Democratic Party and $1000 a contribution from the Littleton Education Association (both organizations with deep ties to Highlands Ranch (i.e. HD43).

Bob's opponent, by contrast, who is the current sitting State Representative after having been handed the seat in a game of musical chair machinations by the Republican Party in early June, did not receive a SINGLE donation from any individual donor in HD43 who was not a lobbyist. Bob's opponent received 7 individual contributions, and only two of them have addresses in Highlands Ranch/HD43: Frank McNulty (the former Highlands Ranch GOP State Senator & Representative and now lobbyist/influence peddler) and a GOP political event organizer who provided an in-kind donation of food for an event.

Of the almost $10K the GOP nominee reported in August, half came from his own pocket ($5K) to supplement his previous $100K loan to his campaign. And $3800 came from special interest groups outside Douglas County, including $1000 from out of state, with no particular discernible ties to Highlands Ranch or the county.

Who does our state legislator and the GOP nominee intend to represent in the state house when he is not receiving ANY donations from anyone in Highlands Ranch who is not a GOP lobbyist?

Who do you think Bob Marshall intends to represent when he received more than 100 individual contributions to his campaign in August (with almost all of them from HD43)?

Bob Marshall’s GOP opponent has, so far, outspent him by more than four times ($109K to $24K). Our current state representative, who should be representing all of HD43, is spending his own money and that from special interest groups from outside the district to win his race. He evidently intends to represent himself and outside special interests in the state house, not the residents and voters of HD43 in Highlands Ranch.
